Lokpal.

The word Lokpal means Ombudsman(chief vigilance officer, lokayuktha). It word meaning of Lokpal comes from Sanskrit "loka" (people) and "pala" (protector). The bill has been introduced to uproot corruption in the Indian society. It’s really astonishing to know that this bill has been waiting for the green signal for the past 42 years!!!!!!. The bill was first introduced by Shanti Bhushan and was passed in the 4th Lok Sabha in 1969, but got rejected in the rajya sabha. Lokpal bills were reintroduced in 1971, 1977, 1985, 1989, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and in 2008 still waiting for the green light. So now lets come to what this bill does. The Lokpal Bill provides for filing complaints of corruption against the prime minister, other ministers, and MPs with the ombudsman. Cool stuff right??? But the situation is that each time, after the bill was introduced to the house, it was referred to some committee for improvements - a joint committee of parliament, or a departmental standing committee of the Home Ministry - and before the government could take a final stand on the issue the house was dissolved. So what happened all of a sudden???? Why the bill came to a big issue now??? a civil society activist and Gandhian, Anna Hazare, went on an indefinite hunger strike until death until his demands in support of the bill were met. Anna demanded for a joint committee of civil society members and government representatives to draft a strong anti-graft bill. The protests led to the creation of an unprecedented movement that saw protests being organized in various cities and towns of India. Protests included fasts, candlelight vigils and rallies. The protests are especially one of their kind in India as they have no political affiliation and the protesters have been very hostile to any political party trying to grab the initiative to meet its own political goals from the activists. So Anna is now driving the bus against corruption with support from most of the Indian society. The recent developments i believe you are all aware about. If not, just search Wikipedia from where I got the info or just Google it out. You can show your support using the social networks that are available now.

Youngsters

It has been long since I posted something on my blog. My aim like most other bloggers was to gain both money and fame through the blog but now I see that I can use this as the voice of youngsters in India. The youth of India are feared by all in the world. I heard once from a teacher of mine that about 60% of the Indian population is of the age 20-35, I am not sure abt the figures but I guess that it’s approximate. So to rule over this 60% we have leaders who are above the age of 75!!!!!!! I guess that around 80% of our honorable MLAS, MINSTERS, and CABINET MINISTERS….ETC have reached the retirement age if they were in government service. Why the government has set up a retirement age??? I think it’s because after a certain age our thinking begins to stop… If you see the daily news or see the way some of our elderly leaders behave we have no other way but to believe what I said. People may say that what I say is not correct and our ministers have good experience and when they joined the party they too were youngsters. Ok I agree to that so why aren’t they giving chance to youngsters then??? They know how they felt when the old party bosses threw their ideas out and stating the idea was utopian??? If you see the last legislative election we can see that the youngsters were not given good representation. Why these people fear youngsters??? The first reason I think is that youngsters believe in the phrase “ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS”. May be we have adrenaline rush and might not think before we do something at least we do it Na???? Any where you look we can see that this is happening youngsters are the trouble makers… why??? It’s because we are frustrated with the present condition. Phew that was heavy stuff my heart is still beating really fast so to wind up let’s say all will be fine after some time??? Hope that we wont commit the same mistake when we become elders..
